Wabash Historical Museum
Wabash, IL
Wabash Historical Museum created The Meadow as a sensory-friendly children’s space away from the museum’s high-activity play area. Rich greens, soft textures, subtle lighting, and nature-inspired forms establish a calming environment where children can explore, discover, and engage at their own pace.

The Meadow features several standard TMC wood products, including Freestanding Trees, a Tree Learning Corner with its friendly squirrel, Tree Appliqués, and Wall Murals. Gentle curves, natural forms, and warm wood elements help soften the environment while creating a soothing, tactile experience that invites children to feel comfortable within the space.

Nature-themed Learning Panels and a Learning Desk introduce opportunities for observation, storytelling, and hands-on discovery. Children can search for bugs with a magnifying glass, imagine what Fox and Mouse might be discussing, and create stories of their own. Together, these interactive elements encourage curiosity without overwhelming the calm character of the space.

Through thoughtful placement, sensory-friendly details, and nature-inspired children’s furniture, The Meadow offers an inviting place where curiosity can blossom.
